Buffalo sauce is traditionally served in bars and homes glazed on fried chicken wings, then plated with Celery and Bleu Cheese. It is a simple sauce that is more than twice the calories of this version because it’s filled with butter and sugars. We have used a really clean hot sauce to make this (there are many brands available with low to no sugar added), reduced the butter by half, and amped up the garlic.
The question commonly asked though, is Buffalo Sauce good for you? The answer is possibly, especially if you don’t overdo the serving size. A recent study confirmed, hot sauce is good for you, especially if it’s paired with a little fat, which is exactly what Buffalo Sauce is. Scientists have found that capsaicin, the active ingredient in peppers that makes them spicy, has a wealth of health benefits.
