Layered Nicoise Salad

Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
- 2-3 Purple Potatoes , quartered
- Chicken Bone Broth or water
- ¼ C Olive Oil
- ¼ C Lime Juice
- Sea Salt & Pepper
Directions
- Place potatoes in pot and cover with broth. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook until for tender. Drain and immediately place potatoes back in pot and add EVOO, salt & pepper.
- Mash with a Potato Masher or a fork and add lime juice little by little. You want the mashed potatoes to be a touch dry so they hold their shape.
Green Beans
Ingredients
- 1 Bag (10 oz) Green Beans , Fresh or Frozen/Thawed
- Sea Salt & Pepper
Directions
- Dice Green Beans into bite sized pieces. Season with Salt & Pepper. Set Aside.
Mediterranean Style Poke
Ingredients
- ½ Lb Ahi Tuna , cut into bite sized pieces
- ¼ C Shallots , diced
- ¼ C Olives , chopped
- 2 Cloves Garlic , minced
- 1 Tbsp Capers , minced
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Smoked Shoyu or Worcestershire
Directions
- This is just like a Hawaiian Poke, but with Mediterranean flavors. In a bowl, mix the Tuna, Olives, Garlic, Capers, and Shallots.
- Drizzle just enough EVOO and Shoyu to pull it together.
- NOTE: you can also use Canned Tuna in place of the raw Ahi. If you swap to canned tuna, add a couple tablespoons of Dijon Mustard.
Hard Boiled Eggs
Ingredients
- 3 Eggs
- Sea Salt & Pepper
Directions
- Place eggs in pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 7 minutes.
- Drain and cover in ice for 7 minutes. Peel and slice. Season with Salt & Pepper. Set Aside.
Tomatoes
Ingredients
- 2-3 Roma or Kumato Tomatoes
- Sea Salt & Pepper
Directions
- Slice Tomatoes. Set Aside. Don’t season until the dish is assembled or the tomatoes will release their moisture.
Assembly
Directions
- Prepare a spring form pan by lining it with plastic wrap. Next, layer the ingredients in this order:
- 1. Half the Mashed Potatoes
- 2. Green Beans
- 3. Mediterranean Poke
- 4. Eggs
- 5. Second Half of the Mashed Potatoes
- 6. Sliced Tomatoes
- 7. Season with Salt and Pepper
- With each layer, pack it down slightly and smooth out the layer so the Causa stacks up evenly.
- After final layer, refrigerate for 60 minutes before removing the springform pan and cutting the Causa – this will help it hold together.
